About THE COALITION

WE WERE THE KIDS WITH OUR NOSES IN BOOKS AND OUR HEADS IN THE CLOUDS, HANDS SMEARED WITH PAINT, INK, OR CLAY. NOW WE ARE ARTISTS, WRITERS, AND CRAFTSPEOPLE, BRINGING OUR IMAGININGS TO LIFE.

The Mission

The Geek Craft Coalition was founded when one geek asked another: "Say, do you know anybody who makes this particular kind of geeky thing?"
"Of course!" thought the second geek, "And why should we even have to ask? Why is there no centralized list for geeky resources, artists, and craftspeople?"

All arts and crafts are important, of course, but not everyone is going to be looking for, say, mythos-inspired  tentacled-horror sculptures, steampunk-themed formal wear, or a new multi-book fantasy series to read every single month.

Hence, our endeavor to compile a resource site for artisans and geek paraphernalia fans, filled with creativity and oddities.

E.J. Bouinatchova

E.J. is the founder of the Geek Craft Coalition, or GCC. She likes acronyms; also palindromes, spoonerisms, and puns. She is a busy writer and voracious reader who loves all things geeky and crafty. A native of the strange and obscure state of Maine, she now lives in the dusty metropolis of Los Angeles.

Having spent most of her life in the land of make-believe, it only made sense for E.J. to go on to be a theatre major. Because that alone wasn't nerdy enough, she decided to focus on Shakespeare. Writing seemed easy after that. She has two books published with Open Books, a great small literary press, and helps her brother run his software and game company, Reverge Studios.

Ivan Bouinatchov

Ivan is, by all accounts, a rather silly person. He blames it on being married to a writer, but his friends and family know he was silly long before that. Ivan is a veteran 3D artist with almost twenty years of experience in the games industry. He started his classical art training back in Mother Russia, before he was asked to leave when he expressed his preference for rum over vodka.

An award-winning scale model builder, Ivan spends a lot of time making very small things, including children. He hopes to train his children in scale-model building and draft them into laboring as his underlings, because their tiny little fingers would be so adept at it. Don't judge him.

Richard Wyckoff

Richard is a veteran of the games industry, as well as having visual art and writing training in his shady past. For the last decade he has run a software and game company called Reverge Studios, which focuses on creating fun, innovative, and educational games and apps.

From his first Adventure Vision and Lord of the Rings tabletop set, Rich had a passion for games. As an adult, he realized they were the perfect synthesis of all that he loved: great stories, great art, and great puzzles. He's been happy to dedicate his life to them; plus it keeps him young. No one would guess he's eighty-six, and he's always ready to school the young whipper-snappers who think they can game.

EJ's Upcoming Project: WORLD BETWEEN
Childhood is a world between fantasy and reality, where dreams can come true - and so can nightmares.

Liza Jane Crowley has an idyllic life growing up in an old Maine farmhouse, where the world seems full of amazing things. Her imagination knows no bounds: her best friend is an invisible fairy and she dances with a skeleton in the barn. The strange and wondrous are commonplace.

As she grows older, she begins to lose her grip on reality. If her fantasy world feels more real than her everyday life, then who’s to say it isn’t? And if it is real… There are terrible things in the world of dreams, and once you notice them, they notice you. No one understands that Liza’s coming-of-age isn’t a time of hopscotch and dollhouses; it’s a struggle to keep possession of her soul.

World Between is a haunting journey through a dreamland, with all its wonders and terrors. Definitely not a tale for children, this story will remind readers of their innermost fears and raise the question: Do children really have vivid imaginations, or can they see things to which adults are blind?
